Fenerbahçe rescue Rebrov

Ukraine striker Serhiy Rebrov has joined Fenerbahçe SK on an 18-month loan from Tottenham Hotspur FC.

Ukrainian international Serhiy Rebrov has moved to Turkish side Fenerbahçe SK on an 18-month loan from Tottenham Hotspur FC with an option to buy.

Medical passed
"The Ukrainian forward participated in training last night and went through a medical at Acibadem Hospital accompanied by club doctor Ismail Basoz," Fenerbahçe said in a statement on their official website. "A blood sample was taken from Rebrov, along with internal tests, orthopedic tests, eye and dental tests. Dr Basoz stated that Rebrov doesn't have any health problems."

Buy-out clause
Rebrov moved from FC Dynamo Kyiv to Tottenham for €17m in the summer of 2000. Playing under George Graham, the Ukrainian scored nine goals in his first Premiership season, but after Glenn Hoddle became manager Rebrov dropped down the pecking order. The 28-year-old Rebrov said "I am 100 per cent sure that I would be a star in England if not for my manager. I had a good first season, but Hoddle's appearance changed it all."

Ukraine return
In November 2002, Rebrov, who has played 44 times for his country, asked Ukraine coach Leonid Buryak not to consider him for the national team until he returned to regular first-team football. Now Rebrov could play his first official match in Turkey for Ukraine, who are scheduled to face the third-placed side from the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Izmir on 12 February. Rebrov will team up with Russia striker Vladimir Beschastnykh, who moved to the Sükrü Saraçoglu stadium earlier this month, at Fenerbahçe.
