Rayo, the league's second-bottom club, learned today that the 20-year-old faces up to eight weeks on the sidelines after keyhole surgery on a knee injury. The good news for the Madrid-based team is that the operation was a success.
Nothing serious
"The arthroscopy went well," said Rayo club doctor Carlos Beceiro. "He had a small ligament tear, from which he will make a good recovery, and the operation also revealed damaged to the meniscus which is not too serious." Mainz has made 16 league appearances this term.
