Aberdeen FC manager Steve Paterson has signed Clyde FC's English striker Leigh Hinds.

Aberdeen FC have signed Clyde FC's English striker Leigh Hinds from Clyde FC for a fee of €45,000.

Fourth signing
Club manager Steve Paterson completed his side's fourth move of the transfer window this afternoon after initially intending to bring the striker to the club on a free transfer when his contract expired at the end of the season.

Goal drought
However, a lack of goals for Aberdeen - they have scored just 21 in 25 games this season - has forced the manager to change his plans and Paterson has decided that the former Wimbledon FC striker fits the bill as they aim to alleviate their relegation fears.

Increased depth
"When I took charge, I said that I needed four players to provide depth to the squad," said Paterson. "Now they are in place and that is the initial part of my plan completed." Hinds joins fellow new recruits Paul Sheerin, Michael Hart and Stevie Tosh at Pittodrie.

Decisive goal
Hinds has scored eight goals this season for Clyde, who play in the Scottish first division. His last effort for his old club was a strike in the third round of the Scottish Cup which secured victory against third division Gretna FC. He will join the squad for Aberdeen's weekend game against Rangers FC.
