Meeting staged
The club's executive committee met on Sunday to discuss the future with €340,000 needed to complete the final round of the campaign, where the top eight teams play off for the title. The money was raised thanks to contributions from club sponsors and donations from fans. A number of first-team players, who have not received bonuses for October and November, also agreed to waive their win incentives.
Budget in place
"We have the necessary budget for the final round," said the club's financial director Urs Gebert. However, he was still in cautious mood. "Still there is much left to do," he added.
Good form
Wil, promoted to the National Lge A last summer after FC Sion, FC Lugano and Lausanne-Sports dropped out due to financial problems, finished fourth to earn a place in the final, championship round. They recorded an 11-3 victory over FC St. Gallen, who they act as a feeder club to, but coach Heinz Pieschl has since left to take charge of St Gallen. It is likely assistant coaches Hanspeter Meier and Giuseppe Gambino will replace him.
