Article body
Untenable position
The coach decided his position was untenable at the club after Györ appointed legendary former Ferencvárosi TC player and coach Zoltán Varga as the club's new technical director two weeks ago.
'Long-term problems'
"My decision is the result of long-term problems," explained Tamási who took over from Varga as team coach 16 months ago. "I will not conform to what the club's management are demanding of me."
Accent on youth
In his time as first-team coach, the former Györ youth team trainer had successfully brought several young players into the starting lineup and his side ended the autumn season in fifth place in the Hungarian First Division.
Possible successor
With 27 points from their first 17 games, Varga has suggested that Györ bring in the club's former international striker Aurel Csertöi to replace Tamási, but the board is not expected to make a final decision for a few days.
