Scoring streak
Beattie's strike in the 1-0 Premiership defeat of Tottenham Hotpsur FC was his ninth goal in ten league games, and lifted his tally for the season to 13. It leaves him level fifth with Newcastle United FC's Alan Shearer and SV Werder Bremen's Ailton.
Larsson moves closer
Henrik Larsson, the 2001 Golden Shoe winner, remains third but closed the gap on the top two when he scored his 23rd goal of the Scottish Premier League season in Celtic FC's 1-1 draw with Aberdeen FC on 2 January.
Henry up to ninth
Another climber was Arsenal FC's Thierry Henry, whose 12th goal of the season in the English champions' 3-2 victory over Chelsea FC on New Year's Day put him in joint-ninth place, alongside Internazionale FC's Christian Vieri, Malmö FF's Peter Ijeh and the Estonia-based duo of Axel Lawaree and Maksim Gruznov.
Makaay blank
The Spanish season resumed at the weekend but Roy Makaay, the Primera División's highest-placed player, failed to add to his eleven goals in RC Deportivo La Coruña's 3-0 win against RC Celta de Vigo.

Only the leading five countries (Spain, Italy, Germany, France and England) on the UEFA Ranking have 2 as their multiplier. This is to emphasise the difference in (international) performance level between the clubs from those countries and those from the other countries.
A player cannot first play in a summer league (e.g. Norway) and then in a winter league (e.g. Spain) and combine the points total for each season.
