New appointment
The 42-year-old former Györ player, who has also worked as a youth coach for the club, was this morning announced as the replacement for Zsolt Tamási who resigned on Wednesday. He has signed a contract keeping him at the club until the end of the current season.
'A great honour'
"It is a great honour for me to work as a leading coach in my club," said Csertöi. "As I was the youth trainer for ETO I know a lot about the skills of the players. I think that we should finish in the top six."
Coaching experience
Csertöi was in charge of second division side Pápai Egyesített LC last season and was personally recommended for the job at Györ by the club's new director of football, former coach Zoltán Varga.
Complicated situation
Györ currently lie in fifth place in the table having made good use of their young players, but clashes behind the scenes between Tamási and Varga made the coach's position untenable and he resigned on Wednesday. "My decision is the result of long-term problems," explained Tamási.
