Odense go west for goalkeeper

American goalkeeper Matthew Jordan has signed a one-year deal with Odense BK and will join the club in July.

American goalkeeper Matthew Jordan has signed a one-year contract with Odense BK. The 27-year-old, who arrives from MLS side Dallas Burn, will move to the club in July as a replacement for Karim Zaza who is joining Brøndby IF in the summer.

Great history
Jordan admitted he is excited by the new challenge. "I'm looking forward to becoming part of a team with such great traditions and history," he said. "From a sporting point of view, I'm also happy to be playing in a team which is going through such an exciting development. At the same time I hope to be able to offer something to this continuing development.''

Healthy competition
Odense coach Uffe Pedersen believes Jordan's move will create healthy competition for the No1 jersey. "We've got ourselves a really good keeper in Matt Jordan," he said. "And in Martin Jensen and Matt Jordan we'll have two excellent keepers in the squad. Then there'll be a battle for the spot in goal, which is every coach's dream.

Mutual encouragement
"I'm sure that both keepers will encourage each other and therefore raise their levels even higher. So I'm delighted that we've got this very important position sorted out."
