Graulund going home to AGF

Members

VfL Bochum's Danish striker Peter Graulund has returned home to join AGF Århus on loan until the end of the year.

Top scorer in 2001
AGF are understood to have paid a small fee for the services of the 26-year-old Grauland whose arrival will bring "an extra dimension" to their attack, according to coach Poul Hansen. Bochum had been asking for around €500,000 for the player, who was top scorer in the Superliga in 2001 with Brøndby IF.

'A clever player'
Hansen said: "Peter Graulund is a dangerous and clever player, who can give our attack an extra dimension. Undoubtedly he will help us move up the table." AGF, five-times Danish champions, finished the first half of the season in ninth place in the Superliga, just one point above the relegation zone.

Injury problems
Their prospects of climbing the table when the season resumes in mid-March had not been helped by injuries to forwards Morten Rasmussen, Morten Poulsen and Søren Andersen. Tom Christensen and the South African Josta Dladla were Hansen's only remaining options, which is why AGF were so keen to sign Grauland, who will join his new team-mates immediately at their training base in the Spanish resort of Puerto Banus.

Opportunities limited
Graulund began his career at Vejle BK before moving to Brøndby in 1999. After topping the Superliga scoring chart in 2001, he joined VfL Bochum for €2.5m but never managed to hold down a starting place at the 1. Bundesliga club. With Bochum coach Peter Neururer alternating between Vahid Hashemian and Thomas Christiansen as a lone striker this season, Graulund made just eight appearances.
