The Armenian Premier League is to undergo an overhaul as it is shrunk from 12 teams to ten.
New format
In a new format, each team will play each other twice before separating into two groups. The top six will meet another two times to determine the title winners, as will the bottom four to determine the one relegated side.
Clubs drop out
FC Zvartnots AAL and FC Armavir have been excluded from the reduced top division for not paying the participation fee. Zvarnots, who competed in this season's UEFA Cup, are suffering monetary problems, while Armavir, who only promoted this season, have lost their financial backing.
Vacancy filled
Meanwhile, FC Araks Ararat will replace FC Spartak Yerevan in the top-flight next season. Spartak have merged with FC Banants under the name of the latter, and the Football Federation of Armenia (ARM) has decided to fill the vacant spot with Araks.
Extra games
ARM president Ruben Hayra said of the changes: "The new rulings will help us to play more games, which will keep the clubs busy throughout the year." The leading sides will now play 28 matches, up from last season's 22.
Cup opener
Armenian Cup games open the season on 9 March, while the league will kick off on 12 April.
