Late withdrawals
The ban, which comes into effect immediately, follows the club withdrawing its players from Armenia’s friendly internationals, at both full and Under-21 level, in Israel. The late withdrawals hit the U-21 side especially hard, as the team was left without four first-choice members and took only 14 players to the game, while the full side were forced to play without Alexander Tadevosyan.
Strict laws
The decision is in strict accordance with the AFF statutes, which stipulate that any club which refuses to send more than two players at the same time for U-21 or national team friendly games should be ejected from the league.
Proud heritage
Ararat are the most famous team in the country, and were planning to hold celebrations to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the club’s finest moment, the 1973 league and cup double in the former Soviet Union.
