Hamburger SV have announced Jörg Albertz will move to Chinese side Shanghai Shenua at the start of March.

Hamburger SV have announced that midfield player Jörg Albertz will move to China to play for Shanghai Shenua at the beginning of March.

Business interests
The 1. Bundesliga side have made no secret of the fact that they are very keen to extend their business interests into the Far East and Albertz will help support Hamburg's establishment of contacts in China. "We are very pleased for the commitment that Jörg has shown our club and wish him all the best in the future," said chairman Bernd Hoffmann.

Good ambassador
Albertz will travel to China this week to sign a contract with his new club in preparation for the start of the Chinese league season next month. "I have generally had a positive experience in Hamburg," said Albertz. "I am looking forward to a big challenge in China and I believe I can be a good ambassador for Hamburg."

Injury problems
Albertz, who has won three caps for Germany, returned for his second spell with Hamburg in July 2001 after a successful spell with Scottish Premier League side Rangers FC. However, a number of injuries saw him fail to recapture his old form in Germany.
