Wales round-up: Bangor closing on leaders

Bangor City FC's run of excellent form continued in the League of Wales as they defeated Oswestry Town FC 2-1 to move within five points of high-flying TNS Llansantffraid FC.

Purple patch
Goals from Mark Lloyd Williams and Owain Tudur Jones meant that Peter Davenport’s men have taken 22 points from the last 24 available – and puts them in third spot behind Barry Town AFC. Aberystwyth Town FC remain fourth after comfortably defeating Carmarthen Town AFC 2-0 thanks to first-half goals from Leighton McGiven and Anthony Wright.

Rare win
Last-placed Llanelli FC collected a rare three points with a 3-1 defeat of Flexys Cefn Druids AFC. It was only the third win of the season and the club came from behind to seal victory after Dan Watkins had put the visitors ahead in the 16th minute. Andy Hill, Adam Bishop and David D’Auria scored after the break.

Bartley spot on
Rhyl Town stayed in the top half despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Afan Lido, who were beaten 6-0 by Llansantffraid in the Welsh Cup last week. Kevin Bartley put the hosts ahead in the 13th minute with a penalty but Chris McGinn levelled soon after.

Relegation fear
Welshpool Town AFC’s relegation worries intensified after their seventh loss on the bounce, a 4-0 home defeat by Caersws FC, who took the lead through Graham Evans in the second minute. Substitute Geraint Lewis doubled the advantage in the 68th minute before Andy Marfell and Evans, with his second, made matters worse late on.

Talbot out of rut
After losing eight of their previous ten matches, Port Talbot Town FC returned to winning ways with a 4-2 defeat of Newtown AFC. Elsewhere, a first-half strike from Richard Adams gave struggling Haverfordwest County AFC a narrow win at Caernarfon Town FC.
