Article body
The ESM Golden Shoe standings became tighter than ever at the weekend, with Thierry Henry and Christian Vieri just one point off the summit.
Henry and Vieri on target
Arsenal FC's Henry and Internazionale FC's Vieri were both on target at the weekend to move level with Arman Karamyan, whose season is already over, and Henrik Larsson in second place and just one shy of leader Andrei Krõlov, whose 37 point tally cannot be added to as the Estonian season is already over.
Blow for Larsson
Larsson's Golden Shoe hopes suffered a terrible blow when he suffered a broken jaw in Celtic FC's 2-1 win against Livingston FC. How long the prolific Swede will be out of action is uncertain, but his manager Martin O'Neill hopes it will be weeks rather than months.
Sonck impresses
The most impressive goalscoring feat of the weekend was Wesley Sonck's four goals for KRC Genk against R. Excelsior Mouscron which saw him advance six places in the standings to seventh, seven points adrift of leader Krõlov.

Only the leading five countries (Spain, Italy, Germany, France and England) on the UEFA Ranking have 2 as their multiplier. This is to emphasise the difference in (international) performance level between the clubs from those countries and those from the other countries.
A player cannot first play in a summer league (e.g. Norway) and then in a winter league (e.g. Spain) and combine the points total for each season.
