Besiktas JK extended their lead to five points with a 1-0 derby win against ten-man Fenerbahçe SK.

Besiktas JK extended their Turkish Superleague lead to five points over Galatasaray SK with a derby victory against Fenerbahçe SK, as four postponed matches were played out with the winter break not officially ending for a week.

Early boost
Unbeaten Besiktas were given an early boost on 17 minutes when Fenerbahçe's Fatih Akyel was sent off after clashing with Ibrahim Üzülmez. And Besiktas took full advantage in the 56th minute as Ahmet Dursun touched in Tümer Metin's cross from the left. Fenerbahçe stay fourth, now nine points behind the leaders.

Strugglers draw
Göztepe drew 0-0 at fellow strugglers Elazigspor to move out of the bottom two. However, both team had a player sent off, Cem Beceren of Elazigspor dismissed on 69 minutes for his late challenge on Göztepe's Ercan Agaçe, and 14 minutes later Cüneyt Kocabiçak joined him for a deliberate handball, his second bookable offence.

Good form continues
Denizlispor, who beat MKE Ankaragücü 2-1 in midweek, continued their good form with a 1-0 win against fifth -placed Gaziantepspor. Ersen Martin scored the only goal of the match on 49 minutes to move his team up to eighth ahead of Ankaragücü, who lost 3-1 at Malatyaspor, whose three goals all game in the first half through Ayman, Hasan Özer and Timuçin Bayazit, Hüseyin Kartal scoring a consolation early in the second period.
