AC Chievo Verona will be without defender Lorenzo D'Anna for about a month after he was diagnosed with a fractured cheekbone.
Training injury
The injury was sustained during a training match against Chievo's youth side and the 31-year-old defender will go under the surgeon's knife on Monday.
Ninth season
D'Anna is currently in his ninth consecutive season at the Bentegodi Stadium. He made his Serie A debut in 1993 for AC Fiorentina before moving to Chievo a year later. This season he has played 21 matches for his club, who are currently fifth in Serie A with 40 points, registering his second goal of the season in Chievo's 3-2 win against Torino Calcio last Sunday.
Risp replacement
During yesterday's training session Chievo coach Luigi Del Neri used 22-year-old Swedish defender Fredrik Risp as a replacement for D'Anna. Risp was signed from IFK Göteborg during the winter transfer window and could make his debut in Serie A at the San Siro Stadium on Sunday when Chievo face AC Milan.
