Örebro SK's Fredrik Jansson and Boniventure Maruti will miss the start of the Swedish season.

Örebro SK's Fredrik Jansson and Boniventure Maruti will miss the start of the Swedish Allsvenskan season with long-term injuries.

Knee problems
Defender Fredrik Jansson has been suffering with knee problems for a couple of months now and x-rays have showed that he needs an operation which will keep him out of action for at least three months.

Samuelsson signs
Örebro have moved quickly to sign a replacement for Jansson, with former Djurgårdens IF defender Magnus Samuelsson arriving on a one-year deal. "We needed to act," said Örebro chairman Ove Lindqvist. "Right now we've only got Gustaf Andersson and Tomas Andersson as fully-fit defenders, and that is a situation we can't have. Magnus has impressed during his trial period and fits really well into the team."

Maruti mystery
Meanwhile forward Maruti might also miss the first half of the season. The Kenyan international, who has had a big impact since arriving in Sweden in 2001, suffered from shin-bone problems last season and only played eleven matches, scoring three goals. "Maruti's injury is very hard to get a grip on, but he will not be able to play football for a long time," said orthopaedic surgeon Ulf Nordström.
