Ligament injury
The 31-year-old Norwegian international limped out of Blackburn's 1-0 win against Manchester City FC at the weekend after suffering ligament damage. Østenstad had set up the winner for David Dunn before sustaining the injury.
Duff boost
Meanwhile, Blackburn manager Graeme Souness has received a boost with the news that midfield player Damien Duff is making good progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury.
Arsenal return
The 24-year-old Republic of Ireland international, who was voted into uefa.com users' Team of the Year for 2002, should be back for Blackburn's home Premiership game against Arsenal FC on 15 March.
