Elche CF's Martínez Valero stadium will stage the 2003 Spanish Cup final, the Spanish Football Federation said.

Season climax
The decision was confirmed on Monday and brought an end to speculation about the possible venue for the climactic match of the 2002/03 Spanish season. The Martínez Valero stadium, which was built in 1976 and has a 38,740 capacity, recently underwent a €3m facelift. The final, between First Division sides RCD Mallorca and RC Recreativo de Huelva, will be played on 28 June.

World Cup venue
Elche, a venue for the 1982 FIFA World Cup finals, has hosted Spanish international matches, the last being a UEFA European Championship qualifier against F.Y.R. Macedonia in November 1995. Elche is situated on Spain's east coast, south of Alicante.
