Article body
FC Baník Ostrava have terminated the contract of Martin Lukes following the player's refusal to extend his contract with the club.
Keen to leave
The striker's current deal was due to expire in December, and Lukes made clear his desire to leave the club last summer when he came close to joining FC Slovan Liberec.
Reserve-team football
However, despite the club making a new and improved offer, Lukes remained unwilling to prolong his stay with the club he joined in 1989, and Baník sports manager Pavel Hadamczik announced that the player has been excluded from the club’s league squad and can now only play for the reserve team in the third division.
International caps
The 24-year-old forward has scored 25 goals in 122 games for the club and won two caps for his country.
