Article body
Piotr Werner has resigned as president of Pogon Szczecin, the Polish first division's bottom club.
Six-month spell
Werner had spent only six months at Pogon, where he was hired by the club's new owner, Les Gondor, and given responsibility for all aspects of the club's administration.
Financial problems
Pogon have been in turmoil all season and sit bottom of the table with just six points from 15 matches. They have serious financial problems and their failure to pay players has meant most of their first-team squad have departed and been replaced by free transfers from the lower divisions.
No development
Their problems are linked with their stadium and Gondor's failure to secure ownership of the land around it, which he expected to secure from the city authorities when he took over the club and which he had hoped to develop.
'Not my fault'
"It's not my fault," said Werner. "I did my best. Just imagine - I was promised everything, but received nothing in these past months."
