IFK Göteborg have boosted their attack for the forthcoming season by signing well-travelled Senegalese international Mammadou Diallo.
Relegation survivors
The 31-year-old has impressed during a trial period. "Having trained on his own for the past couple of months, Mamadou was obviously a bit unfit but he has showed his skill," assistant manager Jonas Ohlson said. "He's strong, big and very solid -exactly the kind of player we've been looking for."
Further additions
There are likely to be more signings before the season kicks off on Sunday, according to IFK sports director Roger Gustafsson. "We've got a Brazilian, Fabiano Silva, and Nelson Crossa from Argentina, on trial and they’ll both play against Örgryte IS on Sunday," he said. "We might go for them as they are skilful and we can afford them."
Experienced international
Diallo, who boasts 44 caps for 2002 FIFA World Cup quarter-finalists Senegal, has also played for Lillestrøm SK, FC St. Gallen, New England Revolution, New York Metrostars and Kuwait's Al Ahli. Göteborg narrowly escaped relegation from the Allsvenskan last season after defeating Västra Frölunda in a play-off.
