Portuguese Super Liga strugglers CS Marítimo have parted
company with coach Nelo Vingada following a run of results which has yielded just four points from the last seven matches.
Recent improvement
Ironically, Marítimo have shown signs of improvement recently, beating runaway league leaders FC Porto three games ago and drawing 1-1 with CD Santa Clara on Friday night.
Caldeira takes reins
Nelson Caldeira, a member of the club's technical staff, will lead the team until a successor to Vingada is found. He will be assisted by goalkeeping coach Humberto.
No hurry
Maritimo president Carlos Pereira said he was in no hurry to appoint a new coach: "We will try to find the best solution for Marítimo," he said. Vingada joined the Funchal club in 1998. Marítimo are currently 13th in the table with 27 points from 24 games.
