Second operation
The 31-year-old has had a piece of floating cartilage removed from his right knee for the second time in a matter of months. The former FC Utrecht player was operated on in December and had been hoping to make his comeback in the run-in to the end of the Eredivisie campaign.
Focus on next season
"It's a great disappointment, even more because I was so close to a comeback," said Robbemond who felt the knee lock during a training session. "I won't play anymore this year and I have to focus on the new season."
Seat in the stands
While Robbemond has resigned himself to a long lay-off he still intends to follow the fortunes of the mid-table club from a seat in the stands. "I can't do anything at the moment," he said. "I sit on the bench with my leg raised. I have to use crutches until I know exactly what my rehabilitation will be - but I hope I can watch the game next Sunday against Utrecht from the stands."
