Czech Republic round-up: Sparta stride clear

Members

AC Sparta Praha extended their lead at the top of the table to four points with a 1-0 win against 1. FC Brno.

Last-minute goal
Sparta owed their success to a last-minute effort from Pavel Pergl after a nervous performance at home against lowly Brno. It looked like they would be made to regret Zdenek Grygera's early penalty miss - until Pergl struck his first goal following his winter move from FC Príbram. Slavia, meanwhile, needed an own goal to avoid an historic first defeat at the hands of Zlín. The home side had gone ahead through Pavel Dobes but were denied as Slavia claimed a single point for the third away game in succession.

Teplice in third
In the hunt for a UEFA Cup qualifying place, FK Teplice beat FC Slovan Liberec 2-1. Goals from Teplice's Petr Vorísek and Pavel Horváth, with a penalty, sandwiched a strike by Jan Nezmar for the visitors. With FK Viktoria Zizkov drawing away to improving SK Sigma Olomouc, Teplice moved into third position, a point above Viktoria and Liberec.

Bohemians triumph
At the other end of the table, there was a vital win for second-bottom CU Bohemians Praha, who recovered from going a goal down at home against SK Hradec Králové. David Breda registered first for the visitors, only for David Zoubek, Jan Rajnoch and Michal Polodna to score the goals that left Hradec Králové five points adrift at the bottom of the table.
