Sliema Wanderers FC defeated Pietà Hotspurs FC to reach the Maltese Trophy semi-finals.

Maltese Premier League leaders Sliema Wanderers FC survived an early scare at the National stadium to defeat Pietà Hotspurs FC 2-1 in the Maltese Trophy quarter-final.

Mamo winner
Pietà were seconds away from the semi-final after a 27th-minute goal from Anatole Debono but Sliema captain Noel Turner found space to tap past goalkeeper Saviour Darmanin and equalise in injury time, sending the game into extra-time. Carlo Mamo scored what proved to be the winning goal almost immediately, shooting in after a Massimo Grima free-kick.

Mallia drive
Holders Birkirkara FC cofortably defeated relegation-threatened Mosta FC 5-0 to secure the second semi-final berth. Chucks Nwoko opened the scoring in the 27th minute and George Mallia doubled the lead ten minutes later, driving in from the edge of the penalty area.

Galea influential
Top scorer Michael Galea was on target at the start of the second half and it was a rebound from his shot that allowed Clint Micallef to make it 4-0. The irrepressible Galea completed the scoring with his second in the 63rd minute.

Floriana relief
Floriana FC temporarily forgot about their Premier League relegation worries thanks to a 2-0 win against Marsaxlokk FC in a match that finished goalless after normal time.

Simeonov makes sure
Skipper Jonathan Holland put his team ahead seven minutes into extra-time and Boyko Simeonov made sure of victory from the penalty spot late on. Hibernians FC also reached the semis, defeating Valletta FC 1-0, with Roderick scoring the vital goal four minutes from time.
