Gap in class
As if to underline their domestic supremacy, the defending champions thrashed last year's runners-up, FC Nistru Otaci, 4-0. Serghey Dadu scored twice to take his seasonal tally to 13 goals, while Cristian Tudor and Andriy Nesteruk were also on target.
Solitary strike
Zimbru were made to work harder for the points at FC Politehnica Chisinau, where a solitary strike from Dumitru Gusila divided the sides. The result left them twelve points clear of third-placed Nistru. Elsewhere, FC Dacia Chisinau held FC Tiraspol to a 0-0 draw at the capital club's Republican stadium.
