Nemec walks out on Widzew

Petr Nemec has announced his resignation as coach of Widzew Lódz with immediate effect.

Petr Nemec has announced his resignation as coach of Polish First Division strugglers Widzew Lódz with immediate effect.

'Great pressure'
Despite guiding his side to a 1-0 win against Wisla Plock on Saturday, Czech Nemec, who only took over at the end of last year, revealed the news at the post-match press conference. He said: "Since the very first moment of my job at Widzew I've been under great pressure. All the time I heard that many coaches only wait for my dismissal. I quit after a match that is won, with my head up. Many things look wrong at Widzew. I don't intend to be the one that demoted the club and hope it can still avoid relegation."

Grajewski quits
The club are third-bottom of the league and in an automatic relegation spot with eleven games remaining. Their playing record of just four wins from 19 matches has also convinced general manager Andrzej Grajewski to leave the club. Grajewski, who will retain his shares in the club, said: "I might be radical but I want only the best for Widzew - and not everybody shares my vision."
