Lukeš looking for Slavia success

Czech international Martin Lukeš has agreed to join SK Slavia Praha in the summer.

Summer switch
The 24-year-old Czech international will move in the summer. The precise details of the transfer have not been revealed although it is thought Slavia have paid a fee of €300,000 for Lukeš. The player has been out of favour at Baník since last month after his refusal to stay at the club, whom he joined in 1989 and where he has since made 124 appearances. Supporters have been calling for him to return to the squad with Baník challenging for a UEFA Cup place for next season.

Two caps
Lukeš, capped twice by his country, could have the chance of UEFA Champions League football with Slavia in 2003/04. His new club are in second place, seven points behind leaders AC Sparta Praha, which would be good enough to take them into the second qualifying round of Europe's premier club competition.

New faces
He will join two talented youngsters from the Czech Under-20 squad at Strahov stadium next season. The SK Ceské Budéjovice midfield player Martin Latka and the second division's top scorer Pavel Fort from FK Viktoria Plzen have both agreed transfers.
