Health scare for Roeder

West Ham United FC manager Glenn Roeder was taken to hospital after the Middlesbrough FC match on Monday.

West Ham United FC manager Glenn Roeder was undergoing tests in hospital today after being taken ill with chest pains last night.

Doctor needed
The 47-year-old was taken to hospital shortly after completing his media obligations at Upton Park, following his side's 1-0 home win against Middlesbrough FC in the Premiership yesterday afternoon. After reports of a suspected heart attack, the club confirmed this morning that Roeder's condition was "not related to a heart condition".

Doctor needed
Last night, West Ham spokesman Peter Stewart said: "Glenn suddenly collapsed after the game today with chest pains. The doctor was in attendance and he was taken to hospital."  Roeder, who succeeded Harry Redknapp as manager in June 2001, was being treated at the Royal London hospital after being taken ill at around 7.30pm.

Three games left
West Ham are now three points adrift of Leeds United AFC, who play their game in hand at home to Fulham FC tonight and occupy the position just above the relegation zone. There are only three games of the season left for the London club, who travel to Manchester City FC on Sunday, face Chelsea FC at home on 3 May, and have a trip to Birmingham FC on the last day of the season.
