Time to go
The move follows Sunday's 3-0 defeat at league leaders FC Porto which left Setúbal two points adrift at the foot of the table. Diamantino, who had replaced Luís Campos in February, insisted he was "leaving for the good of the team". "I believe the club can overcome their problems without me," he said. "My time here has been troubled from the start, but I firmly believe they can stay in the Super Liga."
Poor return
Diamantino returned to Setúbal, where he had briefly been first-team coach in the mid-1990s, after a 6-2 home defeat by SL Benfica. However, he failed to improve the club's prospects in their fight against relegation, his team taking just two points from the last available 12. Diamantino previously coached CD Beja, Gil Vicente FC, FC Felgueiras and SC Campomaiorense.
