Champions Djurgårdens IF began the defence of their Swedish title with a comprehensive 4-0 win at newly promoted Östers IF.
Källström on target
Kim Källström opened the scoring for the visitors from the penalty spot in the 19th minute, and eight minutes later Kaspars Gorkss put through his own net to make it 2-0. Samuel Wowoah added a third eight minutes after the interval and Johan Elmander completed the scoring with two minutes remaining.
Goal difference
The win puts Djurgården top of Swedish First Division table after the first round of matches. This match was the last to be played in the opening series of games, and Djurgården lead second-placed Helsingborgs IF on goal difference.
Santos the hero
Brazilian striker Alvaro Santos ran the show as Helsingborg overcame Örgryte IS 4-1 in Gothenburg. The 23-year-old scored twice but was forced off the pitch with a suspected knee injury in the second half. Helsingborg took the lead through Gustaf Andersson's 15th-minute goal before their Danish full-back, Kenneth Rasmussen, headed into his own net.
Bakkerud strikes
Santos scored his first 20 minutes later before converting again with a superb overhead kick two minutes before the break to make it 3-1. Lars Bakkerud made sure of the points in the 65th minute.
AIK impress
AIK Solna also made an impressive start to the season under new coach Richard Money by claiming a 3-0 win against newcomers Enköpings SK. Karl Corneliusson made the breakthrough on 18 minutes and Daniel Hoch doubled the lead with a splendid goal two minutes before half-time. Andreas Alm ended Enkoping's hopes with a third on the hour mark.
Victory for Halmstad
Elsewhere, Halmstads BK secured maximum points with a 2-0 home win against GIF Sundsvall and IF Elfsborg suffered a 3-0 defeat at Hammarby. Malmö FF beat Örebro SK 2-0 and Landskrona BoIS took the points after a 2-1 victory over IFK Göteborg.
