Article body
SC Braga coach Fernando Castro Santos has been suspended by the club indefinitely for an alleged breach of discipline.
Legal matter
Club officials revealed they have a set of reasons for suspending him but would not disclose what they were. "We cannot say anything more. Everything is in the hands of our legal department. When the matter is closed, we will say more about it," football director António Salvador said.
Carvalhal tipped
Assistant coaches Toni and Vital have taken control of the team until the matter is resolved, although former Leixões SC coach Carlos Carvalhal has been reported to be in line to take over. Castro Santos was tipped to be in line for the sack after a poor run of form left Braga just four points off the relegation zone.
Second spell
Castro Santos, a Spaniard, returned to Braga last summer to replace Manuel Cajuda, after an earlier spell coaching the club between 1997 and 1998. In February, the board at the cash-strapped club resigned en masse in response to supporters' protests.
