Striker Mariusz Srutwa has returned to KS Ruch Chorzów after leaving the club in February.

Contract expired
The 32-year-old striker, who has scored exactly 100 goals in the Ekstraklasa, has been Ruch's most effective attacking player in recent seasons. However, he left the club earlier this year after it was decided not to renew his contract.

New deal
Srutwa had filled in time working as a pundit on Polish television but always remained committed to the club. With Ruch having scored just two goals in their last six games, he has now signed a new contract to keep him in Chorzow until February 2004.

'Positive effect'
"We are very happy to see him back," said club spokesman Jacek Blok. "We were always in touch with Mariusz, and despite some misunderstandings in the past our authorities decided we need to change something. His comeback will surely have a positive effect."

Relegation battle
The player, meanwhile, was delighted to make his return to action and was looking forward to helping the club for the remainder of the season. "There was not much to think about," he said. "Our situation in the league table is complicated. We must do everything to avoid relegation and we can do this."
