George O'Callaghan's late goal gave Cork City FC a dramatic 3-2 win against champions Bohemian FC on Tuesday.

A last-minute goal from George O'Callaghan gave Cork City FC a dramatic 3-2 win over champions Bohemian FC at Turner's Cross on Tuesday.

Famous victory
The midfield player had earlier opened the scoring for Cork on 19 minutes, but goals from Irish international Glen Crowe and Mark Rutherford put the visitors 2-1 in front at the break. Defender Simon Webb also missed a penalty for Stephen Kenny's side. However, a 68th-minute strike from John O'Flynn levelled for Cork before O'Callaghan poked in the winning goal in the dying seconds to give Pat Dolan's side a famous victory.

Perfect record
The win lifted Cork to second in the table, where they trail Shelbourne FC by two points after the Dubliners made it three wins out of three with a 3-2 victory against Longford Town FC at Tolka Park. Shels twice led through goals from Jason Byrne (18) and Stephen Geogeghan (50), but Longford levelled twice with goals from Barry Ferguson (19) and Sean Francis (58). The game looked set for a draw until a slip by Longford goalkeeper Michael Dempsey allowed Jim Gannon in to score from close range with four minutes remaining.

Third defeat
In Tuesday's final match Derry City FC suffered a third consecutive defeat, losing 1-0 at home to Drogheda United FC. Midfield player Mark Quinless scored the only goal in the sixth minute. On Monday, Shamrock Rovers FC defeated University College Dublin FC by the same margin, with striker Liam Kelly scoring his first goal for the club after four minutes.

Surprise winners

Finally, Waterford United FC were surprise 4-2 winners at home to Saint Patrick's Athletic FC at the Regional Sports Centre. A hat-trick from Alan Reilly, two of which came from the penalty spot, inspired Waterford to victory with Wayne Fitzgerald also on target. Welshman Tony Bird scored twice for the Dublin side.
