Brøndby IF have one foot in the final of the Danish Cup after taking a slender 1-0 lead against Aalborg BK after their semi-final first leg tonight.

Jonson winner
The Copenhagen club were the better side but stuggled to break down the well-organised visitors' defence. However, they broke the deadlock on 40 minutes when Per Nielsen headed a superb delivery from Peter Foldgast back across the goal where Swedish import Mattias Jonson had an easy job of poking the ball over the line.

All to play for
In the other semi-final Viborg FF and FC Midtjylland played out a goalless draw. Hosts Viborg looked in control in an entertaining first half and were unfortunate to see Michael Grauggard's close-range header come off the woodwork but after the interval it was the visitors who seized the initiative. Goalkeeper Arek Onyszko had to produce a miraculous reflex save to keep out a long-range drive from Thomas Rathe leaving the sides to settle it in the return on 8 May.

Woe for AGF
Meanwhile, in the Danish Superliga, AGF Århus continued their barren spell after the restart of the season when they lost 2-0 at the hands of Farum. Rasmus Marvits gave the hosts the lead nine minutes before the end and a close-range finish from Jeppe Tengbjerg sealed the win in added time. The result leaves AGF below the relegation line, second from bottom in the table.
