Denmark round-up: FCK back on track

Members

Leaders FC København secured their first victory of the spring season with a 1-0 win against Esbjerg fB.

Rabóczki the hero
Veteran midfield player Peter Nielsen scored the only goal of the game after 58 minutes from the penalty spot after Anders Egholm had fouled Bora Zivkovic. However, the real hero for FCK was Hungarian goalkeeper Balász Rabóczki, who helped his side to victory with a string of stunning saves to keep Esbjerg at bay.

Six-point lead
The result leaves FCK six points ahead of defending champions Brøndby IF who were held to a 1-1 draw by Odense BK on Saturday. Brøndby went in front after 31 minutes when in-form striker Peter Foldgast scored with a header, but Steffen Højer earned OB a well-deserved point 12 minutes after the interval.

Newcomers on course
Farum, who were promoted to the top flight last summer, remain on course to book a UEFA Cup place after claiming a precious 2-1 away win against Aalborg BK. Goals from captain Jacob Gregersen and Nichlas Hindsberg sealed the three points and Farum are now in third place with 36 points - only seven behind the leaders.

Defeat for Midtjylland
FC Midtjylland are a further three points adrift of FCK and lost ground on Farum following a 3-2 away defeat at AGF Århus. Akademisk Boldklub ended a run of three straight defeats with a 3-1 home win against Køge BK, while the bottom two clubs, Viborg FF and Silkeborg IF, played out a goalless draw in the weekend's other fixture.
