Foreign players
Pyunik had two of their foreign imports to thank for a precious away win, with Mamadou Diawara and Khose Andre Bilibio on target. Diawara opened the scoring with a header in the 14th minute and Argentinian Bilibio doubled the advantage with another header 12 minutes after the interval.
Red cards
FC MIKA also made a bright start to the season, seeing off FC Banants by the same scoreline. In a match that saw the referee brandish two red cards, Aram Voskanyan was the hero for the home side as he scored both goals to seal victory. Banants' Ara Hakobyan and MIKA's Andrey Yakushev were both sent off, before Voskanyan converted from the penalty spot in the 65th minute. He then doubled MIKA's lead with a superb header five minutes later.
Dadamyan helpless
FC Lernagorts, who finished eighth last season, made light work of newly promoted FC Araks. Araks goalkeeper Ashot Dadamyan could do little to steam the flow of a rampant Lernagort who claimed a 4-0 win with goals from Aram Beniaminyan, Alen Movsisyan, Hakob Mamulyan and Karapet Parkityan. In the weekend's other match, a late goal by Armen Markosyan gave FC Kotayk an important 1-0 away victory over FC Dinamo-2000 Yerevan.
