Article body
Barry Town AFC moved a step closer to retaining their League of Wales title with a comfortable 3-0 win at home to Carmarthen Town FC.
Llansantffraid lose leadership
The three points moved Barry above TNS Llansantffraid FC, who were held to a 2-2 draw at Aberystwyth Town FC. With three games left to play, Barry moved to 74 points, while Llansantffraid dropped a point behind.
Two for Moralee
Barry extended their unbeaten run in the league to 16 games, with striker Jamie Moralee scoring twice and fellow forward Ade Akinfenwa once.
First-half dominance
Meanwhile, Llansantffraid had seemed on course to earn three vital points at Aberystwyth, as first-half goals from Martin Naylor and Justin Perry put the away side in control, while Aberystwyth defender David Burrows was shown the red card.
Late drama
Glyn Hughes pulled a goal back for the home side seven minutes into the second half, but Aberystwyth seemed to have missed their best chance to draw level when former Llansantffraid striker Anthony Wright missed a penalty eleven minutes from time. However, two minutes into added time, Barry Morgan equalised to earn the home side a draw.
Bangor blow
Meanwhile Bangor City FC's hopes of securing a UEFA Cup spot by finishing in second place were all but ended by a 2-1 defeat at Connah's Quay Nomads FC. The home side took the lead after five minutes as George Horan headed into the net, before Simon Davies equalised from the penalty spot. A spectacular strike from Tommy Mutton 12 minutes from time earned Connah's Quay all three points.
