Magic touch
The sides had shared the spoils in a 1-1 league draw on Sunday and were also level after a goalless first-half tonight. However, Brøndby, who had knocked out holders Odense BK in the previous round, eventually seized the initiative against last year's beaten finalists and it was Foldgast who provided the magic touch. He was left unmarked as Mattias Jonsson flicked on Caspar Ankergren's goal kick and volleyed past Balás Rabóczki to oust the league leaders.
Winning streak
Brøndby will be joined in the semi-finals by FC Midtjylland who claimed their fourth straight win since the restart of the season with a 3-1 success against Esbjerg fB. The Super League's leading scorer Frank Kristensen was again on target, giving the hosts the lead after 23 minutes. Thomas Rathe and Kim Olsen confirmed their progress after the break, making Henrik Nielsen's late effort a consolation only.
Morale boost
Meanwhile, the top division's bottom club, Viborg FF, overturned a 2-0 deficit to triumph 5-2 at home against high-flying Farum. Dennis Sørensen and Thomas Andreasen had given the Copenhagen visitors a comfortable lead, but two goals from Søren Frederiksen signalled a terrific comeback in which Michael Nonbo, Jacob Gregersen and Michael Gravgaard also got on the scoresheet.
Hat-trick hero
Aalborg BK had no trouble booking a place in the last four as they beat Second Division side Næstved IF 4-1. A surprise had seemed on the cards when Thomas Mikkelsen cancelled out Thomas Augustinussen's opening goal before the break. But two further goals from Augustinussen and one from Estonian international Andres Oper turned proceedings in Aalborg's favour after the interval.
