Maccabi Tel-Aviv midfield player Baruch Dago will miss the remainder of the season after breaking his ankle in an Israeli Premier League game.
Torn ligaments
The 22-year-old, who has scored 14 times this season, was stretchered-off during the 3-0 victory against Hapoel Ironi Rishon on Saturday and a scan also relieved that Dago had torn ligaments in his ankle.
Confident of recovery
Dago, who will have a metal plate inserted into his ankle and is expected to be fit again within three months, said: “I am confident I will be back. I have the will-power but I ask my team-mates to win the championship for me.”
Top of the league
The victory over Rishon sent Maccabi to the top of the league, a point ahead of Maccabi Haifa FC and two points ahead of city rivals Hapoel Tel-Aviv.
