Galatasaray SK maintained the pressure on Turkish Super League leaders Besiktas JK with a comfortable 5-0 win against Altay GK.

Erdem landmark
Volkan Arslan opened the scoring on 25 minutes with a fierce drive and eight minutes later Ali Lukunku doubled the advantage with his first goal for the Istanbul club. Ümit Karan extended Galatasaray's lead in the 57th minute and Elvir Baljic then put the game beyond doubt with a stunning 30-metre shot. Substitute Arif Erdem rounded off the scoring with 12 minutes remaining, scoring his 100th goal for the club.

Besiktas stay ahead
Besiktas remained a point ahead of second-placed Galatasaray following a 2-1 win at Malatyaspor. Sergen Yalçin's free-kick on 23 minutes opened the scoring for the visitors and Kaan Dobra added a second five minutes before half time. Malatyaspor had to wait until the 90th minute to score through Mert Korkmaz.

Gençlerbirligi frustrated
Third-placed Gençlerbirligi SK were held 3-3 at Fenerbahçe SK. Semih Sentürk's goal put Fenerbahçe ahead after 36 minutes, but Gençlerbirligi were level within three minutes as Bülent Karaman equalised, before Veysel Cihan's strike two minutes before half-time put the away side in front.

Last-gasp equaliser
Fenerbahçe drew level four minutes past the hour as Semih Sentürk made the score 2-2, before Ali Günes put the home team in front with 17 minutes left to play. However, Gençlerbirligi levelled once more in added time, as Deniz Baris' goal left both sides with a point

Fourth consecutive defeat
Denizlispor suffered their fourth consecutive defeat after losing 1-0 to Samsunspor, with the only goal coming on 28 minutes from Brazilian midfield player Júnior after some neat build-up play from Oktay Derelioglu.

Winning debut
New Göztepe coach Ilyas Tüfekçi enjoyed a winning debut as the league strugglers ran out 3-0 winners against Diyarbakirspor. Göksel Akinci scored twice in the first half, on 14 and 38 minutes, and Cumhur Bozaci added a third on 68 minutes.

Vital success
At the bottom of the table, Elazigspor were 4-2 winners against fellow strugglers Adanaspor AS. The home side took a 2-0 lead at half-time through Lubomir Meszaros and Erhan Namli, and although Gökmen Yildiran pulled a goal back a minute into the second half, further strikes from Cem Yanik and Juraj Czinege made Necati Ates' late penalty for Adanaspor little consolation.

Late comeback
Meanwhile, bottom side Kocaelispor’s hopes of avoiding relegation suffered a blow as they slipped to a 2-0 defeat at MKE Ankaragücü, with Özgür Yildirim and Augustine on target. Finally, two goals in the last ten minutes from Bülent Bölükbasi and Ibrahim Toraman earned Gaziantepspor a 2-1 win at home to Bursaspor, who had taken the lead through Okan Yilmaz, while the game between Istanbulspor AS and Trabzonspor ended goalless.
