FK Austria Wien extended their Austrian Bundesliga lead to 14 points after a 2-1 victory against struggling VfB Admira Wacker Mödling on Sunday.
Wagner's minute waltz
Austria's Michael Wagner had a brief but eventful game as he scored the first goal in the tenth minute only to be sent off within 60 seconds. With 20 minutes left, Slovakian international Vladimir Janocko converted a penalty to ensure Markus Katzer's late goal for Admira was only a consolation.
GAK take advantage
SV Pasching had begun the weekend as Austria's nearest challengers, but lost that berth on Saturday with a 2-0 defeat by Grazer AK. Pasching had goalkeeper Josef Schicklgruber dismissed and GAK took advantage with goals by Mario Bazina on 65 minutes and Ronald Brunmayr with a quarter-hour remaining to claim second place for their own.
Kärnten boost
FC Kärnten's bid to avoid relegation received a huge fillip as they overcame bottom side Schwarz-Weiss Bregenz 2-1. Mario Marià put visitors Kärnten ahead from the penalty spot after four minutes before Bregenz midfield player Olivier Nzuzi was shown the red card just before half-time. Laszlo Klausz drew the scores level with a quarter-hour left, but Roman Stary put Kärnten back ahead seven minutes from time.
Sturm win
SK Sturm Graz stormed into a 3-1 half-time lead on their way to a 4-2 win against SV Ried that sees them consolidate fourth place. Meanwhile, Ried conceded fifth spot to SV Austria Salzburg, who beat SK Rapid Wien 2-0.
