Dospel Katowice defended top spot in the Polish First Division with a 1-0 victory over KS Ruch Chorzów, while second-placed Odra Wodzislaw kept pace thanks to a 3-0 home win against Zaglebie Lubin.

Kowalczyk saves the day
Katowice showed quality and tenacity to edge a hard-fought derby against mid-table Ruch, with Jacek Kowalczyk scoring the only goal of the game with an overhead kick on the half-hour mark. Odra remain a point behind the leaders after strikes from Wojciech Grzyb and Michal Chalbinski and an own goal by defender Bogdan Zajac secured maximum points against Zaglebie. The visitors lost Belorussian defender Dimitar Klabukov to a 60th-minute red card.

Wisla win again
In an enthralling match at the Wisla Kraków SSA stadium, Wisla Kraków maintained their push for the title with a 2-1 success against Legia Warszawa. Stanko Svitlica converted Tomasz Kielbowicz's corner from close range to give the visitors the lead but Wisla replied in the 29th minute when Nigerian Kalu Uche gave goalkeeper Zoran Mijanovic no chance from ten metres. Maciej Zurawski struck the winner, turning cleverly inside the area in the 61st minute to make it 2-1.

Nine for Górnik
The result of the night came in Zabrze, where hosts KS Górnik Zabrze thrashed bottom club Pogon Szczecin 9-0. Adam Kompala claimed a hat-trick, while Rafal Kaczmarczyk and Adrian Sikora both scored twice in a thoroughly one-sided affair. Tomasz Prasanal and Marek Kozminski also added their names to the scoresheet.

Garbarnia woe
Elsewhere, Wisla Plock and KKS Lech Poznan drew 0-0 and KS Amica Wronki defeated Widzew Lódz thanks to Tomasz Dawidowski's goal. KP Polonia Warszawa won 2-1 at home to nine-man Garbarnia Szczakowianka Jaworzno. Jaroslaw Mazurkiewicza and Sebastian Keska scored for the hosts, while Ryszard Czerwiec and Maciej Bykowski were the men sent off.
