Devastating display
The reigning champions underlined that they are still the team to beat with a devastating display which left them unbeaten in three games, having scored eleven goals and conceded none.
Five scorers
Babis Stefanidis gave the Stockholm side a 28th-minute advantage, and although Elfsborg managed to keep them at bay until ten minutes after the interval, Johan Elmander's goal was the cue for a Djurgården onslaught. Within four minutes, Michael Dorsin had made it 3-0 and after 68 minutes it was 4-0 as Daniel Sjölund struck. Rene Makondele became the fifth Djurgården scorer as he completed the rout.
Malmö denied
Elsewhere on Monday, two Niklas Skoog penalties were not enough to earn Malmö FF a win against last season's surprise package, Landskrona BoIS. Skoog found the target after 37 minutes and then repeated the trick three minutes before half-time, but an Alexander Farnerud strike put Landskrona back in contention early in the second half before Henrik Nilsson equalised. In Monday's other game, sleeping giants IFK Göteborg continued their slumbers with a goalless draw at Östers IF.
Örgryte alright
In Saturday's matches, Örgryte IS picked up their first points of the campaign at the third attempt with a 3-0 win against visitors Enköpings SK. Edwin Phiri and Paulinho Guára with a brace were the scorers. Örebro SK also got off the mark after securing a surprise 3-2 win at Halmstads BK. Mikael Steen, Paul Oyuga and Herrish Kuhi were all on target for the visitors.
Light relief
Elsewhere, financially troubled Helsingborgs IF put their off-the-field problems behind them, with Michael Gustavsson and Gustaf Andersson scoring the goals that earned a 2-1 home success against GIF Sundsvall.
