NAC stand by Schenning

Members

Defender Mark Schenning is to stay on at NAC Breda, who have rearranged their game against FC Groningen.

Defender Mark Schenning has agreed to spend an additional two years with Eredevisie side NAC Breda.

'At home'
The 32-year-old agreed a new contract with the financially troubled club on Tuesday. "Three years ago NAC gave me a new chance by signing me from [FC] Den Bosch," he said. "They gave me the opportunity to become a regular player here. I feel at home in Breda, with the great fans, team and atmosphere."

'Tactically strong'
NAC coach Henk ten Cate is pleased to have secured Schenning's services, saying: "He is tactically strong, left-footed and what is maybe even more important, he is very popular within the team. With Rob Penders he forms an excellent central defensive duo. They really complement each other. Where else can you find such a duo in the Netherlands?"

Coaching dream
The defender has also been given the opportunity to get a coaching licence during the next two years, and could be added to the club's technical staff once his new deal expires in 2005.

Game postponed
NAC were forced to postpone their game against FC Groningen last weekend when the majority of the first team were struck down with illness, but the fixture has now been rearranged for Sunday 27 April.

Local regulations
Because of local regulations in Groningen, football matches cannot be played on any day except Sunday in the city, and the new date was the only one which was available. However, the rescheduling has caused several other games to be rearranged.

Rearranged dates
Originally, NAC had been due to play at home against FC Zwolle on 27 April, but that game will now be played on the evening of 6 May. In order to accommodate this game, Zwolle's home game against Roda JC has been put back from Saturday 3 May to Friday 2 May.

Friday games
Roda, meanwhile, have changed the date of their home game against RBC Roosendahl from Saturday 10 May to the evening of Friday 9 May, while the same side's home game against Groningen, originally scheduled for Saturday 26 April, will now be played on Tuesday 13 May.
