Grasshopper-Club extended their lead at the top of the Nationalliga A to three points despite being held to a 2-2 draw at home by Neuchâtel Xamax FC.

Two-goal lead
Xamax moved into a two-goal lead in the first half through Pascal Oppliger and Alexandre Rey. However, Andreas Gerber pulled a goal back for Grasshoppers five minutes past the hour, and Mate Baturina 90th-minute equaliser salvaged a point.

Basel beaten
Second-placed FC Basel were unable to take advantage of Basel's slip as they were defeated 2-0 at BSC Young Boys. Joël Magnin opened the scoring after 60 minutes, before Young Boys exploited the extra space as Basel pressed for an equaliser to score a second in the final minute, with Johann Vonlanthen on target.

Wil win
Meanwhile, FC Wil 1900 slipped to the bottom of the table despite a 1-0 win at home to FC Zürich. Mauro Lustrinelli scored the only goal of the game in the 68th minute and Wil hung on despite the dismissal of Alessandro Mangiarratti nine minutes later.

Thun off the bottom
However, FC Thun moved above Wil on goal difference after a 3-1 win against Servette FC, who took the lead with a 25th-minute penalty from Aleksandar Bratic. However Milaim Rama equalised three minutes later, and Silvan Aegerter put Thun in front three minutes before half-time. Marco Streller completed the scoring 20 minutes into the second half.
