The 23-year-old defensive midfield player has been one of the few bright points in a disappointing campaign that has left Energie rooted to the bottom of the table with just 23 points. With six games left to play, the club are seven points adrift of safety.
'Great loss'
Schröter, who has been watched by several of Germany's bigger clubs, ruptured the cruciate ligament in his right knee in Sunday's 3-0 defeat at FC Schalke 04. Energie general manager Klaus Stabach said: "This is a great loss for us because we don't have many alternatives."
