Article body
Christophe Meslin has agreed to sign a three-year contract with OGC Nice.
Personal terms
The 25-year-old Stade Rennais FC striker, who has been on loan with the Ligue 1 newcomers for the past two seasons, has agreed personal terms with Nice and will sign his new deal on Monday, according to reports on the club's official website.
Popular figure
Meslin has become an extremely popular figure at the Stade du Ray after the 16 goals he scored in 32 Ligue 2 games last season helped propel the club into the top flight. A knee injury has hampered his current campaign, however, and he has scored just one goal in seven games.
'A super deal'
Coach Gernot Rohr had made the signing of Meslin a major priority despite his injury, and the club's website declared that the option to take the player from Rennes for a fee of €200,000 represented "a super deal" for Nice.
European hope
The club, who surprised many by topping the French table for a number of weeks this season, are currently in seventh position in Ligue 1. Rohr's side still have a chance of automatic qualification for the UEFA Cup, and have also applied to compete in the UEFA Intertoto Cup.
