French champion
The 28-year-old right-back has spent the majority of the season on loan at Rennes from Derby County FC. He joined the English club in November 2001 for a fee of €4.9m from FC Girondins de Bordeaux, the club where he started his career and where he won the French championship in 1999.
Fighting relegation
Grenet played 15 league games for Derby, who play in England's first division, last term and three this season before asking for a loan move back to his native France. He joins a team currently 16th in the 20-team Ligue 1. Three teams will be relegated.
